We provide a turnkey service to customers looking for their road or track car steering wheel.
In-house we undertake the mechanical, composite and electronic design, engineering and production of the steering wheels, meaning the customer has only a single point of contact for their projects. Wheel assembly is fully undertaken by our specialist team, and we have an extensive supply chain who can undertake specialist processes such as trimming and lacquering for us.
Every steering wheel for a road or track application is vastly different, but that does not mean it is necessary to fully re-invent the wheel for every application, and we have developed a catalogue of proven parts which can be integrated under the skin of the wheel, to ensure customers are getting proven components, which minimises risk and lead times for a project.
The focus for wheels can be different, with one wheel demanding the lowest possible mass (under 1kg is possible for a road car steering wheel!), and another demanding high levels of customisation for the end customer. bf1 are able to work with you to fully understand your requirements, and ensure that the project delivers against these.
All steering wheels are run through an APQP process, and full PPAP submissions for all wheels are expected.
